It's been a pretty quiet week, so this is going to be kind of a shorty. We had lots of holiday celebrations this past week! May 4 was Star Wars day, (which is good because I just bought a Star Wars shirt on P-Day ((don't judge, it was on clearance and it's amazing))) and then we have tacos for lunch on Cinco de Mayo, and then I got to talk to my awesome family on Mother's Day. So it's been a pretty fun week.
We met with a less-active named Marcia. She's really nice. She was out on her porch and we weren't really expecting to meet with her because she's been going to a different church for like thirty years, but when we went up and talked to her she was really willing to talk to us and let us in. She's been through a lot of stuff with divorce and a couple of brain surgeries, so she thanks God every day that she's still here. We're hoping that we can get her to come back to church, but she's been gone for a long time, so it might take a while. Family history might be something that we can get her involved in because she really, really loves her family. She showed us all the pictures of them and it was really sweet.
Otherwise, it's still pretty slow here in good ol' Mandandy. We've been going through our area book and trying to get some resolution on a few people there, but most of them have either moved or haven't been contacted in like two years, so mostly we're just tracting. I'm still working on trying to teach more on the doorstep because it's been kind of rough in the tracting department these last couple of weeks. Working on it, though! We're getting a longer and longer list of potential investigators, so someone's bound to work out eventually, right? We've had a couple people who seem really willing to let us come back and teach them, so hopefully when we actually do get in with them we won't blow it, haha. It's all about having the Spirit with you and I have to keep reminding myself of that. As long as we're preparing as much as we can and trying our best, the Spirit is really what does the converting.
Sister Wells and I have started practicing for a musical number for zone conference in a couple weeks. I'm singing and she's playing "His Hands," so hopefully we'll be able to get it together in time for it to sound decent. Elder Martino from the seventy is coming and there will be three zones there and it might be broadcast to the whole mission. So no pressure or anything.
Shout out to the moms and great women of this church! We had the young women in relief society for the opening exercises on Sunday, so we said the Young Women's theme and then read the relief society theme after that. I'd recommend looking up both themes if it's been a while since you looked at our purpose as women of the church. There's some pretty great stuff in there - important to remember how important you are in the eyes of God and the church. :)
Until next week, God loves you!
