Week 30: Impromptu Temple Trip!

It's starting to look like fall out here. The trees are changing just a little bit and it's suddenly really cold in the mornings. Going to be winter before too long and then things will get really interesting. We've made a pact to have a snowball fight the first time it snows. Which could be tomorrow because ND is a little temperamental in the weather department.

Let's get the highlight of the week out of the way first: There was a tri-stake women's conference in Bismarck on Saturday, and we didn't think we were going to be able to go because we didn't have a ride with a member. But then the other sisters got a call that they were getting a new car and would have to drive theirs up to the mission office to switch, so we suddenly had a ride and got to go! The conference was really good and we got to go through the temple, so it was awesome. Some time in the celestial room always makes for a good day.

Also, funny story: I was backing Sister Harris out of a member's driveway last night and totally tripped and fell flat on my back in the road. Luckily she was watching me flail around and didn't run me over, but yeah. That about sums up my life right there.

Otherwise, more of the same! Tracting, testifying, hitting up former investigators and potentials from the area book. We tried to talk to people at the mall the other day. Turns out that's super not allowed and if you are really, really obvious about it with your skirts and your pass-along cards, the mall cop will come and kick you out without any hesitation. So now we'll have to find some other place to talk to people, which will be tricky because people don't walk around in Fargo all that much.

We now have 3 official investigators, and that's pretty cool. There's this African girl named Rugi (she's the cashier who recognized us as missionaries when we first got here) and her mom is a member from Liberia. Rugi wants to get baptized, but it's clear that she doesn't quite understand what that means or what kind of a commitment it really is, so we've got some work ahead of us. She's super funny, though. And African families are so fun. It's like another world when you go through their door! We also met a less-active couple and invited them to church, and then they actually came, which was really nice. It's fun when people actually take you up on your commitments.

It's bee a hard couple of weeks. Hard to be motivated, positive, feel like I'm accomplishing anything, all that jazz. But someone gave a quote over the pulpit yesterday that I'm going to try to keep in mind: "The soul is like a violin string: it only makes music when stretched." We have to remember that it's when we're stretch that we grow, and luckily we're in the hands of the master tuner who knows exactly what we can handle and what will make us the best we can be. Remember that when you're feeling a little stretched, okay? :)

Love you all! Here's some random pictures from the last little while!
