Week 58: Conference Weekend!

Did you all have the best conference weekend ever? I know I did. We were able to watch a couple of the sesssions with members, which was really fun. We happened to watch the Sunday afternoon session with the Kollies, who are a really sweet part-member family. After Elder Costa's talk to those investigating the church, Sister Kollie remarked, "I feel like he was talking directly to me!" So hopefully she reflects on the things she heard and takes them to heart. I know that if you listen to conference with an open heart and are willing to seek the counsel of the Lord, you'll be able to find answers to questions in your life. I know I learned a few things that I need to work on. So go back and watch Conference if you didn't get a chance!

Other than conference, there wasn't a ton out of the ordinary this week! We haven't been able to meet with a lot of our investigators very much because of how crazy everyone's lives are. We've got so much going on with so many people that I keep losing track of things, which is kind of discouraging. But luckily God knows all the stuff I'll forget before I forget it - that's what companions and planners are for :)

June is doing well - she came to conference at the church and really enjoyed it :)

Sister White is doing pretty good, too! We went and kept her company at the hospital in Fargo this week because Sister Richards had surgery and was in the OR most of the day. She's doing fine, but it was kind of a taxing day for both of them. It was actually a fun adventure for us - we went to the big Fargo library to weekly plan because we were already in that part of town.

Lakeita just moved into a new apartment and is making a lot of hard changes in her life, but she got a job and things are looking up for her. We're hoping she can be baptized at the end of the month like she wants to.

Atheer is so great. In this last lesson we asked him if he'd prayed about the Book of Mormon and he said that he can feel that it's from God, which was super cool! We're almost done with the lessons (with the aid of Arabic pamphlets) and he's been trying to read every day. He even took the initiative to ask his manager if he could have mornings off to come to sacrament meeting every week! His date is the 15th and as long as we can get him better acquainted with the ward, I don't have too many worries about him. We're making a goal to have every lesson with him in a member's home now because he doesn't know anyone really well. But yeah, he's pretty excited about all this.

Rugi has been a little rocky this week. Lots of interruptions during lessons and she's starting to realize that she's got a lot of changes she'll need to make in her life. We're trying to move toward in-members with her as well because that will help her a ton, but she doesn't have a car or a reliable way to get around, so that makes it tricky. It'll work out, though! She's come so far already :) Just need to work on consistency with her.

We had a fun service project helping a less-active member of the ward move. There was some pretty heavy stuff, so thank goodness for elders. Takes me back to the summer in Mandan when all we did was garden and help people move, haha! Good to know that moving season is a constant in North Dakota. But the member said that she was reminded what fellowship in the church really means because of our service, which was neat.

Speaking of moving, Sister Davidson and I are heading to a new apartment at the end of this week (provided that all our paperwork goes through). I'm pretty sad to split up the West Fargo Foursome, but it's going to be a fun new adventure (for the month I'll live there until I get transferred, haha). We actually got to pick the apartment ourselves! I'll have to send pictures because it's pretty nice. Don't know the address quite yet, but if you have the inclination to send me anything, just send it to the old address. The sisters will still be holding down the old fort for a little while :)

Today we're going to go have lunch with the sisters' recent convert, so that should be a lot of fun! The spring weather has been so nice - Sister Feeny and I sometimes go rollerblading when the day is done :)
Hoping you all have a lovely Monday and a lovely week!
