For once in our lives we've got plans for p-day! We're going to either the museum or the zoo, not sure which yet. Trying to get like ten missionaries on the same page is way more difficult than it probably should be. But yeah, because of that this is going to be kind of a shorty! Been a good week, though!
We started teaching a former investigator named Jaden who has a lot of questions about this life and the Bible. He studies it all the time and is really invested for someone as young as he is, which is cool. But at the same time I'm kind of intimidated by him because I'm not sure that he really understands what we're trying to do by teaching him. He wants to read the New Testament with us, and we're pretty set on teaching him the restoration and stuff like that. So we'll see how our next lesson goes. Not sure we're quite on the same page, but hopefully we can straighten that out.
We also started teaching our neighbor, Lori! We met her taking out the trash and she said we could stop by. We're hoping that we can start teaching her two kids as well as her. We just kind of got to know her last week, so we're praying that she'll feel the spirit when we teach the restoration this next week. She's got family in the other ward, too, so that's going to be a great fellowshipping route. She's awesome, though. Super sweet and has been impressed by how giving members of the church are.
The most interesting thing that happened this week was that Sister Cavey and I went to a Catholic funeral. Our investigator Doug's nephew passed away suddenly, so we went to the service in Bismarck to support him. So we show up in our nametags and naturally we accidentally wore matching outfits that day, of all days. Let's just say I've never felt more Mormon in my life. There were a ton of people there and there were pews all over the chapel (is it a chapel? I don't even know. It was a really pretty building, though) Sister Cavey and I were just trying to be out of the way and not trip into a fountain of holy water or something. But yeah, we made it through, and Doug appreciated the support. Not a lot of other progress with Doug this week. We're trying to teach him the Plan of Salvation but it seems like something else always comes up. Either our lesson doesn't pan out or we end up teaching the restoration again to help him resolve concerns. So PoS must be a pretty pivotal lesson if the adversary's trying so hard to keep it from happening. We'll get him, though. :)
I went on exchanges with Sister Greene in Bismarck this week! That was super fun. We painted a house and got up to all sorts of hijinks. And we had FHE with one of our less-active families. It was super fun, and we're hoping that we can get them to actually come to church sometime. That would be nice. We talked about the temple with them and they said that they'd love to be sealed as a family "when they have more time." Which sounds like garbage to me! God will give you all the time you need if you just get your butts in gear! We'll find some motivation for them, though. Somehow.
We had a huge hailstorm the other night! It was crazy. There was thunder and lightning and it woke up like the whole state at 4:30 AM. It was crazy, though. Sister Cavey thought it was the second coming when she first woke up. But yeah, it was like ripping up the lawn outside and the windows were shaking. It was nuts. Did you know that the lightning goes sideways here? Well, it does. It was really humid all day before that happened, so we knew it was coming. Every time we went outside it was like a wall. And then, of course, today it's like 60 degrees just in time for the first day of summer. North Dakota does what it wants.
I'm sure a thousand other things happened this week, but that's all I've got for now! Have a wonderful week, happy father's day, you're all beautiful or handsome or whatever adjective you like!
