Week 34: Many ways to do the work!

Had kind of an unusual week! Of course, what is the usual with missionary work, right? A lot of our appointments fell through, but the other stuff that came up was pretty fun, so that made up for it.

We bought some Pumpkin spice Cheerios last Monday. Highly recommended. Then we went to a Relief Society activity and ate way too many fall treats. They all had either apple or pumpkin in them, so I feel justified.

We also had zone training meeting, which was super good. Lots of good advice and good motivation to become better. And it's always fun to see missionaries that don't come around all that often. Though I was asked to play the piano and even though I practiced I kind of forgot how my hands work during the closing hymn. Don't forsake your talents, kids!

On Saturday we went and helped a sister peel more apples, and then we went and raked leaves for a less-active member in the ward. We also helped her put up some insulating plastic stuff around her trailer in preparation for the winter. (I've officially broken out the winter coat.) It was a beautiful day, though, and all the missionaries were there, so it was a lot of fun.

Oh, and we had stake conference, so we had the Bemidji sisters sleep over with us on Saturday! It was fun, but I was so tired on Sunday. Conference was super good, though. Got to see President and Sister Hess, which is always a plus.

On Sunday we watched the kids of two families while the elders had a lesson with a less-active's non-member wife. I'm really, really glad that it was a super spiritual lesson, because it was quite the circus in the basement. We tried to teach them (because we're missionaries, you know) but that lasted about a hot second and then we were just running hardcore crowd control. It's been a long time since I handled kids and missionaries do not receive revelation for babysitting, so it was a little rough. Worth it, though - the elders said it was the best lesson they've had because they didn't have all the interruptions.

Then we got to help a sister fulfill her visiting teaching assignment because her partner couldn't go with her. That's the first time I've done that and it was really fun! It was especially cool after listening to President Holland's talk from the priesthood session about home teaching. It's important, folks! Make it a goal to work on that if you've been having a hard time getting your visits!

We did do some traditional missionary work, don't worry! We had a good lesson with June earlier on and we tracted a whole apartment building last night. #fourthfloorlastdoor Met lots of nice people. There was a guy named Mike who saw the BoM and said he had a book like that from some elders in Houston. He told us he'd been reading it and wants to learn more. So that's pretty amazing!

We also met the coolest lady I've ever talked to in my life, no joke. Her name is Nicole and she was so happy to talk with us and listen to what we had to say. She was telling us about how she prays for opportunities to share Christ's love with people. She's had some amazing experiences with that. And we gave her a BoM and she was all over it. The bummer: She's moving to Texas in like two weeks. But I guess we'll just send a stellar potential down there in return for Mike. That's fair, right?

And, finally, we met a potential by fetching the lid of his kid's sand pit, which had blown away across the road in the Fargo wind.

The weeks are going by faster and faster. Today is the eight month anniversary of my slapping a tag on my chest!  We're going bowling today and we'll probably eat something really unhealthy to celebrate. :D

Love you all!
