Week 37: Chicken Feet

Gonna be a short because this week was really just more of the same. Also I seem to have forgotten how to operate a camera, so sorry about the lack of pictures. I promise I'm still alive.

June's still doing pretty good. We watched the Restoration movie with her and she has lots of questions from the BoM, so we'll have plenty to discuss with her this week. We're thinking that once she actually starts coming to church, things will really start rolling. We also picked up a couple of investigators that we'd previously dropped because we didn't see them too much, but we still dropped a ton of people, so we've done lots of finding this week.

We volunteered at a charity 5k put on by this donut shop. A bunch of the missionaries ran it with some members, so we figured we'd help them pass out donuts and water and medals and stuff. It was pretty fun and everyone was super nice and happy. Lots of visibility for the missionaries, so that was good. And I got a donut, so that's even better!

Had dinner with an African family in the ward. They made us this spicy green dish made of Hasava leaves with all manner of meats in it. It wouldn't have been so bad, but Africans eat every part of the animal - bones, eyes, the works. With that in mind I avoided the whole crab I saw in there, but still ended up with a chicken foot. Not the worst thing I've ever eaten, actually, though it was pretty crunchy. You just have to get through the mental part and then it's fine. They also sent us home with this heart-shaped loaf of ginger banana bread stuff :)

We somehow managed to teach 30 lessons this past week, which is pretty much double what we normally get, but I'm not feeling that good about it. We've definitely got a quantity over quality situation going on, and that's a little bit frustrating. Searching for those who are prepared means that you run into a whole lot of people who aren't, which is way more discouraging than people ever tell you. This morning we found a BoM on the side of the road and we're pretty sure we know who tossed it, and then one of our most solid potentials called and dropped us not five minutes ago. Let's just say that p-day rolled around at just the right time. We've got lots of good appointments for this next week, though, and you never know how much you help a person even when you don't quite see it.

Thanks for your love and support - keep on being great and have a lovely week! While I'm thinking about it, they changed how transfers work, so now transfer calls will be on Tuesdays and we ship out on Thursdays still. If I'm going somewhere, I'll find out next Tuesday!
