Week 42: Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Winter is here, everybody! We've finally hit some negatives and there's snow falling outside! North Dakota is actually really pretty in the winter. The snow is super powdery and glittery and it sticks to all the trees really well. But it's DANG COLD. We had to hang up a blanket in the window of our bedroom to fight the chill and we're probably going to be rearranging our study room so the desks are on an inside wall. And it's just getting started! I'm sure there will be plenty of winter hijinks once we all get cabin fever, so stay tuned for that.

Some of the elders planned a Christmas party for us on Monday at Sister Dresser's, and that was super fun. We had a picture scavenger hunt and played festive minute-to-win-it games. Drank too much hot chocolate, the usual. Didn't take any pictures because I'm lame, though!

We got in touch with Lisa again (we met her at Target forever ago). She said that her husband was asking when she was going to have us back over, which is kind of sweet. I always wonder if people even acknowledge that we exist when we're not sitting on their couches, haha. But Lisa was happy to see us! Her older daughter, Cynthia, sat in on the lesson. She just came over from Liberia like two weeks ago and has (reasonably) been staying inside avoiding the cold ever since. But she's really cute. They both agreed to read the BoM, and Lisa said she'd be baptized! Haven't set a date or anything, but I love their family. It's always really calm and reverent in their home.

We met a woman named Lily and her cute family this week. We taught Lily the restoration and she said she liked what we were teaching. Hopefully that'll go somewhere. Her kids are SO cute. She's really busy and works nights, so we might not be able to see her more than once every couple of weeks.

Kayla came to a lesson at the YW president's home, and that was really good. It's been a really hard couple of months for her and she's made some choices that are halting her progression, so we're going to try to help her remember that repentance is the only thing that can help her move on. She really wants to go on a mission, so we're hoping to set some goals to help get her there.

Had a lesson with June at Sister Tollefson's house and it was really good! We were so happy that she came out in the snow and everything to get there, and then she agreed to live the Word of Wisdom without a fuss at all. It helps that she basically already lives it, I guess. She didn't come to church because of the weather, and that's the biggest hurdle in her getting baptized. But she's loving the Book of Mormon still! She's set a date to be baptized on March 4, which is still a long time from now, but I just keep reminding myself that eternity's a whole lot longer.

Hope you're all staying warm and cozy out there! Go enjoy some holiday lights :)
