Week 47: "It is by obedience that we gather light into our souls." (Dieter F. Uchtdorf)

First off, sorry for the late email! Pday got moved to today because the libraries were all closed yesterday. We've kind of split pday between two days because we already had some appointments set up, so life is a little hectic today.

Strap in, because we had a really great week! It started with a stellar zone training meeting. Sister Harris and I were very motivated by the training and we decided that we were going to try really hard to be obedient and diligent this week. I know it's early in the email to be getting deep, but I want to testify of obedience. Sister Harris and I really stepped it upthis week and I saw the blessings for sure. It was still hard (because worthwhile work always is) and not everything went perfectly, not by a long shot. But if nothing else I was much more satisfied with my efforts, and I really feel like my work was acceptable to the Lord this week, which is a big thing for Sister Myers.

Sister White is doing amazing! She's personally inviting every person she knows to her baptism, she's made it through her interviews with flying colors, and she's really accepted that this is what the Lord wants us to do. She told us that she's recognized that even though she feels like she made this commitment a long time ago, she understands now that it's time to make it official with God. I'm so excited for her, and I'm excited that she's finally owning her baptism. She was a little hesitant before, but she's excited to move forward!

June is doing well, too! She's in Alma 42 and loving everything about the Book of Mormon. We've had lessons in member's homes and she really likes meeting people from the congregation. Church is still an issue, though we had a good lesson about church and how to get the most out of it. June has come 3 times now, but it's really different from what she's used to. Gonna take a while for her to get into it. We assured her that she's definitely not the only person to be bored in sacrament meeting. And she knows the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet, so she'll get there in time.

We have a new investigator named Thelma. She's probably about 25 and she's this tiny little lady from Liberia with the cutest big-eyed baby ever. She's been meeting with us a couple times a week and really likes going through the pamphlets. She came to church this Sunday, which means we had 3 investigators at church all at the same time!

On Thursday we went and did service at the food bank again. This time we sorted and repackaged onions so they could be redistributed. Met some cool people there and we're excited to go back this week! Later that night we went to a luau with the Relief Society on the coldest day of the year so far (26 below!) That was pretty fun! Had haystacks, pina coladas, mochi ice cream. And I found out that I'm still not very good at limbo.

This weekend we went on exchanges, which meant that Sister Dillon and I got to be companions again for the day! It was fun to catch up and be real missionaries together instead of just getting lost at the MTC together. We tracted into a really cute Nepali family and a less-active who moved from Jamestown recently (didn't have her records, but she was really nice, so I'm excited to go back and work with her. At the end of the night, one of the members made us really, really spicy African food and doled out about two pounds of it for each of us. So that was an adventure. I was hurting the rest of the night because I was trying to shove the stuff while also teaching the gospel and reading the Book of Mormon. Not recommended! Luckily we convinced her to let us bring it home because we had to leave before we could finish.

Sister Harris and I had really productive day yesterday, too, even though it wasn't our regularly scheduled pday. We got in touch with a lot of people that we haven't seen in a really long time. When we tracted an apartment building, we met another less-active member that we had bad information for, so hopefully we can work with him.

Long email for a long week, sorry! Hope things are going well with you all and I love you!
